The Dutch Toto has enraged many thousands of gamblers by the early closing of football bets on several European Football Championships matches. The monopolist decided to use such rigorous measure in fear of too little profit. Anyone who wanted to place a (profitable) bet on the matches of the Czech Republic, Portugal, Croatia and Germany, was misled by the only legal provider of sports betting in our country already hours before the usual closing time for the matches.
Yesterday Lotto director Tjeerd Veenstra confirmed the remarkable betting step, which also involved five other combinations. According to the Toto, betting on these matches was stopped early because otherwise the profits would be too high for their players. "We do not have the possibility to reduce the risk of over-payment by 'insuring' the commitments of other bets," explained director Veenstra.
