Ladbrokes, one of the largest bookmakers in the UK has bought a 65% stake in the American Stadium Technology Group, a technology company specializing in sports betting in Las Vegas.
"The size of the U.S. market and the opportunities for a positive change in the rules in the coming years make it a wise investment," said Richard Glynn, CEO of Ladbrokes. "Stadium Technology is already one of the leading suppliers of software for bookmakers in casinos in Nevada and Delaware and has the potential to expand further."
The U.S. Department of Justice announced in December that the Wire Act no longer applies to poker, however, the law will still be imposed on sports betting which is illegal in almost all U.S. states. New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie recently signed a bill that would open the door for legalized sports betting.
