Malta-based online gambling operator Unibet Group has completed the acquisition of the business and certain operating assets of rival Nordic Betting Limited for £11.25 million.
Unibet recently purchased Australian independent online corporate bookmaker Betchoice Corporation Party Limited for £13.6 million while November saw it pay £4.8 million in order to take control of French operator Solfive SAS, which is the firm behind the EurosportBet and EurosportPoker brands.
Nordic Betting trades as Bet24 and operates the Bet24.com and Bet24.dk sportsbetting domains and Unibet stated that the transaction, which saw 80 percent of the purchase price settled in cash, would strengthen its ‘market position in the recently regulated Danish market’ and provide ‘additional scale to support further investment to grow market share’.
"Bet24 will continue to trade under the existing brand and through the current platform for an interim period and its customers need take no action as a result of today’s announcement," read a statement from Unibet.
"Unibet will integrate the operations of Bet24 with its own Maltese operations in due course."
