French leader in sports betting and on-line games, BetClic becomes an official partner of the forthcoming African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Angola. This partnership reflects the partner’s desire to pursue its development in football. Already a partner of several large European clubs (Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique de Marseille and Juventus of Turin), BetClic is now associating itself with African football through its major competition.
“This partnership represents a unique opportunity to become a top level participant in African football and to contribute our backing to the development of this sport on the continent. Our position as the French leader in sports betting has naturally brought us closer to African football. This agreement will enable us to further develop the affinities between our brand and the communities of African origin living in France. We are thrilled at the prospect of this partnership which we have really fallen for” comments Nicolas Béraud, founder and chairman of BetClic.
The African Cup of Nations, organised every two years by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), brings together sixteen nations which have qualified through eliminatory phases (with the exception of Angola, the organising country). The 27th edition will be played out between 10 and 31 January 2010.
BetClic will be visible throughout the whole competition, be it on the grounds, the tickets, the interview areas and the event’s promotional material. The operator is also playing a role in promoting the event by launching an important communication campaign on internet. As a result, numerous sites will display banners in the CAN’s colours throughout the whole period of the competition, which will contribute significantly to the promotion of the event towards internauts both on the African continent and in France.
To accompany the emergence of this global event, BetClic is also launching the biggest betting competition ever organised on the African Cup of Nations. Throughout the whole event, football enthusiasts will be able to bet on each match, amass points and in the final win numerous fantastic prizes.
To celebrate this partnership with the CAN, BetClic has concluded an agreement with Roger Milla. The star of the 1990 World Cup with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is a genuine African football legend: Voted best African player of the century, he also holds the record of being the oldest player to have scored a World Cup goal. He will be the brand’s Ambassador throughout the whole period of the competition and will contribute an article to the site each day.
He will be joining forces with Marcel Desailly, World Champion in 1998 and European Champion in 2000. Considered one of the best defenders in French football with 116 caps for his country to his credit, Desailly is now one of BetClic’s accredited ambassadors.
