The British bookmaker William Hill is finalizing the acquisition of Spanish Miapuesta. William Hill has a six-month period in which to complete the acquisition, a condition set by the parent company of the Spanish bookmaker, Sportingbet.
Miapuesta has been active in the Spanish market since June 2012 after receiving an official gaming licence from the Spanish government.
The Spanish representative of William Hill, Miguel Valdes, calls the acquisition "very positive" news for the Spanish company. "This acquisition will significantly expand a complete range of online sports betting such as football," said Valdes.
Earlier this year, online bookmaker William Hill completed the purchase of the Australian company from Sportingbet for a total amount of close to 542 million, with the option to take over the Spanish division of Sportingbet.
